Matthew Fitzgerald is the Owner of Five Alarm Fire Prevention LLC, a company focused on fire prevention, fire and life safety, property safety, inspection services, and professional consulting.

Matthew brings more than 20 years of experience in the fire service and an extensive professional background in fire prevention, code enforcement, fire inspection, building and property inspections, fire investigation, emergency services, and public safety.

Professionally, Matthew has experience as a municipal Code Enforcement Officer, conducting property inspections, investigating complaints, identifying code and property-maintenance concerns, explaining regulatory requirements, and conducting follow-up inspections to verify compliance.

Matthew previously served as a Fire Safety Representative with the New York State Office of Children and Family Services, where he conducted fire and safety inspections of adult and child-care facilities, prepared inspection reports, reviewed construction and evacuation plans, participated in fire investigations, and provided fire-safety and regulatory training.

Matthew has served in the volunteer fire service since 2006, including leadership experience as a Captain and Health and Safety Officer. His fire-service background includes firefighting and rescue operations, incident command, fire prevention, training, public fire-safety education, emergency planning, fire investigation, incident safety, and respiratory protection.

Matthew holds numerous nationally recognized certifications, including Pro Board Fire Inspector I, II and III; Fire Plans Examiner I and II; Fire Investigator; Fire Officer IV; Fire Service Instructor III; Incident Safety Officer; Health and Safety Officer; Hazardous Materials Safety Officer; and Public Fire and Life Safety Educator I and II.

He is also a Certified New York State Code Enforcement Official, an International Code Council (ICC) Fire Inspector I and II, and a New York State Licensed Home Inspector (License #16000162251).

Matthew earned an Associate of Arts in Fire Science from Bucks County Community College, graduating Summa Cum Laude, and holds a Fire Science Certificate. He also earned an Associate of Applied Science in Business Administration – Management/Marketing from The College of Westchester.
